Egypt referendum

Cairo

Over the next two days, Egyptians will be voting on a new constitution. If successful, it will replace the one put in place by former president Mohammed Morsi.

Fears are that this day will result in violence. The Muslim Brotherhood is boycotting the vote and clashes could erupt between those who support Morsi and those who support the military and interim leadership.

Please lift up Egypt in your prayers. Pray that the referendum would go peacefully, without violence and without loss of life.

Pray also that the results of this vote would be accepted by Egypt’s citizens. Pray that Egypt would be able to move forward and that some measure of healing would come to this divided country. Though in human terms this seems impossible, ‘with God all things are possible’ (Matthew 19:26).
