The News Show - update

This is an update on The News Show (Questions about the Christian Faith), a project we launched in February 2011 in partnership with an Arabic Christian satellite channel. Details of how you can partner in this project are at the bottom.

Live Programme

The live TV phone-in series Questions about the Christian Faith has developed in an interesting way. Calls to this programme have been fewer than to some other programmes but the depth and quality of questions being asked is really encouraging. During the week, the discussion continues on the Facebook page. To date, 586 have 'liked' the page and corresponded with it, and many continue to do so, keeping the pages lively from day to day. In addition, video clips of questions from the programme are posted there and on a YouTube channel. Facebook is interesting as these individual discussions will appear on each writer’s own page - so the potential audience is magnified!

Last month, an interesting development took place as one of our response team members started a Bible study with five interested enquirers who contacted the programme. A sixth has now joined that group, so please pray for Saleh as he leads them, asking God to protect the six and guide them to the truth.

Pray that all of those doing personal follow up will be blessed in their conversations and kept safe. And please pray for funding to come in for this and other projects. Here are some sample responses...

Message from Jordan...

I am a Muslim and love Christians very much but I had a lot of questions about errors in the Bible as well as the contradictions. These questions used to always confuse me. I used to always wonder how this could be God's words' But I loved Christ so much. I say, sincerely that your programme helped me very much and helped me to love Jesus so much. I believe as well that this book, the Holy Bible, is God's words and there is nothing dishonest in it. Thank you for your help and your answers to all the questions that were going through my mind.

Lady from Egypt...

I have many Muslim friends and they always ask me many questions about how I could be a Christian and about the corruption of the Bible and how it could be inspired by God. They always ask me about the books that were removed from the Bible and why they were not included in the Bible that we now have in our hands. I had no answer to my Muslim friends, but I thank you because you helped me to answer them and I am proud of my book the Bible now.

From Morocco...

Through your programme, I now understand the Christian concept of marriage. I did not know before that marriage is sacred and that a man is to be joined to one wife because God, from the start, made one for the other, Eve and Adam. I have also learned that the concept of fasting in Christianity is  not imposed and does not have specific dates throughout the year. It is also not limited to specific hours. Also, I learned that the goal of fasting is not to ask for forgiveness. All these things I learned from your programme and I thank you because by reason of your programme I have accepted Christ and Christianity.

Special Report: Kabyle Ministry in Algeria

Articles

Tamusni.org is a ministry website similar to Maarifa but in the Kabyle language, which is spoken by 5 to 7 million worldwide. Most Kabyles can be found in Algeria, where there has been a huge growth in Christianity over the past twenty years or so. Launched five years ago, Tamusni seeks to present the gospel and engage Kabyle people in conversation about spiritual things. In 2011, we received just over 142,000 visits to the site and 531 communications from individuals; 29 were passed on for face-to-face follow-up with an in-country believer. Read More

The Sky is Not the Limit

Blog

By a member of the Media Team   Dubai is one the most beautiful cities I have ever been to. It has an abundance of skyscrapers, shopping malls, luxury hotels and homes coupled with beautiful beaches and guaranteed sunshine. It is a rich man’s paradise and possibly the easiest non-Western place for a Westerner to be. Everything is shiny and new. It would be no great hardship to live there. It has everything you could wish for! Read More

April 2012

Prayer Feed

Monday 16 April 2012 Pray for the impact of The Seekers, a film sharing the testimonies of believers from the Gulf. Released almost two years ago, the film has now been made available for download on mobile phone. With thousands of Gulf Arabs accessing the internet through mobile devices, this is an important development.   Pray that many in the Gulf would watch this film and learn that there are Christians in their own nations. May many make the choice to believe and follow Jesus Christ, the Son of God. Read More
