Location: Two territories in Middle East. West Bank borders Israel and Jordan. Gaza Strip borders Israel, Egypt and the Mediterranean Sea.

Capital city: None, but Palestinian Authority is headquartered at Ramallah in West Bank.

Population: 4.6 million

People: Palestinian Arab, Jewish, other

Religion: 84.6 percent Muslim (mainly Sunni), 10.3 percent Jewish, 5.1 percent Christian and other

Point of interest: Was recognised by the UN as a non-member observer state in 2012.

Christianity: Most Palestinian Christians are indigenous rather than converts from Islam. There are a number of Palestinian believers from a Muslim background, including the son of a Hamas leader, but exactly how many is unclear.

Mission work: Those who serve in this region aim to be salt and light by helping improve the quality of life for impoverished Palestinians.

Prayer requests:

  1. Pray for peace between the people of Palestine and the people of Israel.
  2. Lift up the many thousands of Palestinian refugees who live in poverty in neighbouring countries.
  3. Pray for Palestinians to have access to the truth through personal contact with believers and through access to the internet.
  4. Pray for dreams and visions of Jesus Christ.
