This week, Eid al-Adha (Festival of Sacrifice) takes place as well as the Hajj (pilgrimage) in Mecca.
Eid al-Adha is when Muslims remember Abraham’s willingness to sacrifice his firstborn son (Ishmael, according to Islam). To mark this event, most families will buy and sacrifice a sheep or goat.
The Hajj is an annual pilgrimage that all Muslims are expected to complete at least once in their lifetime. It is one of the five ‘pillars’ of Islam. Millions of Muslims from across the globe will travel to Mecca in Saudi Arabia, where they will perform a series of rituals.
Please pray today for the millions of Muslims throughout the world who are blind to the truth. Pray that many would hear of the sacrifice God made when he sent his only son to die on a cross. Pray too for those who are in Mecca, seeking to please a distant and unknowable God. Pray that Jesus would appear to many in dreams and visions, calling them to follow him and changing lives forever!
