Wednesday 22 January marks the beginning of Syria peace talks in Switzerland. Representatives from more than thirty nations – including Syria – as well as the National Coalition, UN, EU, Arab League and Organisation of Islamic Co-operation will be present.
The next few days are key days to pray for Syria. With this in mind, we ask you to stand with us and many other believers across the globe, lifting up this nation, praying for a breakthrough.
Barely a day goes by without news of the suffering taking place within this nation. Many Syrians have lost lives, suffered horrible abuse, lost their homes and worse. We simply cannot know the full extent of damage that’s been done to ordinary men, women and children, who once lived lives very similar to our own.
Please pray and please get your friends and church family to pray. Ask God to move hearts and to turn this situation around. In Matthew 19:26, Jesus says, ‘With man this is impossible, but with God all things are possible.’ He also says that if we believe, we will receive whatever we ask for in prayer (Matthew 21:22). Pray as the Holy Spirit leads, or pray the following…
Father God, in Jesus’ precious name we ask you to bring peace to Syria. We ask that you would give wisdom to those who have power to make change happen. We pray that no more lives would be needlessly lost and that no more suffering would take place. We pray that there would be justice for the Syrian people and that hope would come to that nation. We pray in faith that you can and will do the impossible in this situation. We know that you are a merciful, loving God and that you suffer to see such pain and hatred between men, and we ask that you would intervene. Amen.
