Meet Samir, a young man in his twenties or thirties. He wants to know the truth, has rejected Islam, and is most likely an atheist. He seeks answers to intellectual questions and is looking to be part of a community based on love. He has a need for certainty about what is true, and may believe that religion and science do not mix.
It’s hard to believe that a person like Samir exists in the Arab world but, surprisingly, atheism is on the rise. At one time we could rely on the common ground of a belief in God as the starting point for discussions about faith, but now we cannot always take that for granted.
With all of this in mind, we have produced a one-minute video featuring Samir. As a student, he enters his science class asking questions like, ‘Where do I come from?’ and ‘Why I am here?’ But Samir can’t get the answers to his questions from his science teacher. The video ends with the message that the Bible answers all the big questions about life.
To date, almost 6,000 individuals have watched this video, with 124 personally contacting us with questions like, ‘What happens after death?’ and ‘What is the meaning of life?’ This young Tunisian girl writes…
I’m like Samir; I don’t know the meaning of my life. I’m only 19 years old and I don’t have a desire to live. Could you please tell me, what is the true way to happiness? I don’t have friends and I feel lonely. Could you please help me?
She, along with the other 123 who contacted us, received a personal reply from one of our response team with links to an article on the Big Bang Theory and a testimony from an atheist convert to Christianity. Additionally, we hosted some live chat room discussions on the topic. Sixty people attended these.
Please pray that the video, articles and chat room discussions would make a significant impact on those involved. Pray that many would be challenged to go to the Bible as they search for answers.
